Poynton Nutrition and Nurture Workshop
Time & Location
About the event
This is a 3 hour course split over 2 sessions (12th and 19th August) led by International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Clare Watson.
Whilst breastfeeding is a natural process, it is also a learned skill and unfortunately one which is often not passed from generation to generation in our current society. Spending some time learning about it before the baby comes along can make a huge difference to your confidence level and help you feel empowered whilst you are negotiating you way through ‘newborn valley’.
We called these workshops Nutrition and Nurture to reflect the fact that infant feeding is about more than just nutrition.
In these innovative Nutrition and Nurture workshops we help you to understand how the mother/baby pair (or dyad) is naturally designed to work symbiotically, supporting each other physically and emotionally to improve the health of both.
We discuss how the body works to make milk and how you can optimise it; what your baby is programmed to expect from you when it is born so you can understand it’s behaviour; how your baby’s brain develops and what you can do to support it; how breastfeeding works, how to do it and how to tell it is going well.
We strongly encourage you to bring along those closest to you who will be supporting you. Being surrounded by people who are on the same page as you, who understand your goals and your reasoning and will support you is enormously valuable.
